No, cover letters aren't dead. 😁 Neither are resumes or CVs.
I can understand the sentiment behind why people think these documents are becoming obsolete. But there isn't a better way to capture a person's professional history than what a blank Word document can offer.
With resumes, you can be as creative as you like in how you arrange your experience, accomplishments, and skills.
With CVs, you can be as complex and detailed as you like with the information you share.
Cover letters are the special differentiators that showcase your critical thinking skills and who you are as a person.
To replace these documents, you'd need to create an entirely new job search ecosystem, with a new way to capture information that aligns with federal and state hiring regulations. What that might look like? I wouldn't know where to begin.
