Writing “see resume” on an application
One of the worst things you can do on a job application is to write "see resume" in any of the application fields. I've talked about this many times in the past. Writing "see resume" is an absolute, surefire way to have your application placed in the discard pile.
One of my newer customers told me that she's been writing "see resume" on her applications for the past four months, and nobody has called her back. Imagine: four straight months of applying to job after job after job, and all of it was effort wasted.
As redundant as it might seem, and as frustrating as it might feel, you must fill out your job applications properly if you want a chance at securing an interview. Take the time to copy and paste your resume's content into the application box. Write out your past employers' names and populate the dates, even if the task feels tedious.
If I can inject one bit of hope into the process, know that this tediousness is the reason why much of your competition will miss out on their phone screening or interview. They won't take the time to fill out their applications properly, or they might exit the tab altogether.
But that's not going to happen to you. You will be among the few applicants willing to do the necessary work. You're going to make sure that your application shines. And that's why you're going to have an advantage over the rest.
